On May 27, 2024, the European Union submitted Circular G/TBT/N/EU/1065 to the WTO,to amending Annex XVII to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in clay targets.the final date for comments will be 60 days from notification, and the proposed approval date will be the fourth quarter of 2024.
In Annex XVII to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, the following new entry 50a is added:
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are a class of aromatic hydrocarbons containing two or more benzene rings, which are restricted in use by REACH Annex XVII due to their carcinogenicity and reproductive toxicity.
