On September 27, 2024, The European Commission has published in its Official Journal Directives (EU) 2024/2570 and (EU) 2024/2555 amending the POPs Regulation, adding new Substance control for methoxychlor and reducing the limit for hexabromocyclododecane(HBCDD). The Regulation shall enter into force on the twentieth day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.
In Annex I to Regulation (EU) 2019/1021, the following entry is added:

POPs is the abbreviation of Persistent Organic Pollutants. It is a class of persistent organic pollutants with long-term persistence, bioaccumulation, semi-volatile and high toxicity. Recently, the EU POPs regulations have been updated frequently, and the supervision has been strengthened. Statistics show that the EU produces several cases of violations of POPs regulations every year, and the countries of origin of the illegal products are mostly China. Therefore, it is recommended that enterprises pay attention to the update of POPs regulations and check pops in products as early as possible to ensure product compliance.
