REACH Amends Annex XVII Regarding PAHs in Clay Targets

On April 1, 2025, a new entry 50a was added to Annex XVII of REACH, restricting the use of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in clay targets for shooting. This provision will officially come into force on April 22, 2026.

New entry 50a is added:

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are a class of aromatic hydrocarbons containing two or more benzene rings. Due to their carcinogenicity and reproductive toxicity, their use is restricted under Annex XVII of REACH. CTT reminds relevant enterprises to prepare in advance, strengthen the control of raw material and final product inspections, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
