The EU ECHA Announces a New SVHC Intention Substance - BPF

Recently, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) website once again listed 4,4'-methylenediphenol (Bisphenol F, BPF) as an intention substance of SVHC under REACH. Previously, on June 2025, 4,4'-methylenediphenol had already been listed as an intention substance of SVHC, but it was withdrawn in February 2026.

The information about the newly added intention substance is as follows:

Substance：4,4'-methylenediphenol(Bisphenol F, BPF)

EC No.: 210-658-2 CAS No.: 620-92-8

Reason for Proposal: Toxic for reproduction (Article 57c)

Use:It is mainly used to produce epoxy resin, polycarbonate resin and polyester resin, and can also be used to produce oil-soluble phenolic resin, flame retardant, antioxidant and surfactant.

As of now, the status of SVHC substances is summarized as follows:

• 253 items of officially included in the SVHC list

• 1 item of pending substance (Resorcinol)

• 1 item of intention substance (4,4'-methylenediphenol (Bisphenol F, BPF))
