Taiwan to ban BPA in baby bottles

On January 10th, 2013, the Department of Health of Taiwan issued the No. 1011303616 announcement to revise draft of  "hygienic standard of food utensils and containers" 5 ~ 7 items. The pre-announcement will end by March 12th,.

The revision is to protect infant health from Bisphenol A, the revision points are showed as follows:

1. Add the provision of no use of  plastic materials contained bisphenol A in baby bottles. (revised provisions of article 5)

2.  Remove "polycarbonate - bottle" regulation. Remove the bisphenol A limits of migration tests of polystyrene resin, polyether resin. Correct  the English name of polystyrene resin. (revised provisions of article 6)

3. This standard take effect on and after September 1st, 2013 (subject to the manufacturing date of Taiwan products and departure date of imported products ). The market circulation product control take effect from March 1st, 2014. (revised provisions of article 7)
