Washington CHCCs changed

In October 2013 the Department of Ecology adopted and noticed an amendment of Children's Safe Products Reporting Rule to add tris(1,3-dichloro-2-propyl)phosphate(TDCPP) (CAS#13674-87-8) to the list of Chemical of High Concern to Children(CHCCs), and remove n-butanol (CAS #71-36-3) from the reporting list of chemicals.

Now manufacturers of children's products are no longer required to report on the presence of n-butanol in their children's products but are required to report on the presence of TDCPP in their children's products. The presence of TDCPP must be reported in all notices required to be filed after August 31, 2014, according to the phase-in schedule in the amendment. The first reports for TDCPP will be due on February 28th， 2015.

The amendment will go into effect on November 22, 2013.

TDCPP is the most common flame retardant, widely used in soft and rigid polyurethane foam, plastics, resins, fabric backings and other inflammable materials of baby products with foam, such as car seats, baby changing pads, baby carriers, etc.
