Egypt to improve safety requirement for toys and childcare article

8 April 2013, Egypt notified WTO two amendments to mandatory standards for toys and child care articles, including ES 7562 for Restrictions on use of phthalates and their derivatives in toys and child care articles and ES 7093 for Essential requirements for safety of toys.

ES 7562 for Restrictions on use of phthalates and their derivatives in toys and child care articles mainly refers to European phthalates legislation Entries 51&52 under REACH Annex XVII and is intended to implement on 24 August 2013.

ES 7093 for Essential requirements for safety of toys mainly refer to Europe toys safety directive 2009/48/EC, including but not limited to physical properties, flammability, chemical safety like 19 heavy metals, and its enforcement date is unknown now.

The notification No. for the above mentioned amendments are respectively G/TBT/N/EGY/32 and G/TBT/N/EGY/33.
