GB 28480-2012 to regulate Jewelry on China market

General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China jointed National Standardization Management Committee has issued a mandatory standard GB 28480-2012 to restrict hazardous substances in jewelry, effective May 1, 2013.

GB 28480-2012 specifies requirements to various types of non-precious metals jewelry and ornaments (except jewels and jades). Heavy metals, including nickel, lead, cadmium, arsenic, mercury, hexavalent chromium are regulated in metal jewelry. Limits for them are different in adults' and children's jewelry. It should be expressed in the label or other markers for children's jewelry.
